Karty z Nvidią, możesz wygenerować automatycznie xorg.conf po zainstalowaniu sterownika komendą:
sudo nvidia-xconfig
Co prawda w coraz mniejszym stopniu system wykorzystuje ustawienia użytkownika ale zawsze można spróbować ustawić własną rozdzielczość w xorgu.
